The Community Programming Coordinator supports the Program Director in delivering Community
Programmes such as the Inuit Women’s Circle at Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre (QCFC). The
Community Programming Coordinator is responsible for serving as a liaison between QCFC’s regular
program users and support services in the community.
With the support of the Program Director, the Community Programming Coordinator is responsible
for:
Providing resources and referrals to participants attending the centre
Planning and facilitating programming meant to educate and engage community members
with issues connected to food insecurity and poverty
Assisting with special events and workshops as needed
Recruiting and managing volunteers to deliver community programming
Ensuring that community programmes are in-line with QCFC's mandate and vision
Serving as a representative for QCFC within the community and within councils and
coalitions
Other duties may be assigned by the Program Director.
Travel may be required.
Work is indoors (office/common space) and consists primarily of clerical work and
communication with the public. Discretion is needed when dealing with sensitive and
traumatic personal issues. Physical fatigue could be a consequence of mental exertion.
Perform additional related duties as needed
1 or more years experience in community development or in social services sector
Ability to demonstrate compassion, openness, and keep to standards of confidentiality
Experience working with individuals facing issues such as substance abuse, trauma, mental
health, housing and food insecurity
Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Class 5 Nunavut driver’s license
Fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset
A degree or diploma in social services is not required but is considered a strong asset
Other lived experiences, education, and skills will be considered in lieu of formal education
and related work experience
A vulnerable sector check and positive references may be requested. In conformance with Article 23
of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, preference will be given to Inuit applicants.
● 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day
● Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
● May include evening or weekend hours during events or peak periods
● $80,000 to $90,000 per year
● This job is temporary until December 1, 2025
