Communications Coordinator

Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre (QCFC) is a registered charity that strives to strengthen health, belonging and food sovereignty in Iqaluit. QCFC works in partnership with Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC). Community food centres are places where people come together to cook, share, and advocate for good food. QCFC is seeking a part-time Communications Coordinator. This position has the potential to be fully remote and is open to applicants across Canada, but candidates in Nunavut are preferred. In conformance with Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, preference will be given to Inuit applicants. Housing is not available. 

Reporting to the Co-Executive Directors, the Communications Coordinator will:

  • Develop a cross-media communications strategy, in collaboration with the Co-Executive Directors and the Fundraising Coordinator
  • Plan and execute logistics for both in-person and online events
  • Build connections with external stakeholders such as governments, foundations and regional Inuit organizations
  • Manage QCFC’s monthly newsletter
  • Develop and manage QCFC’s presence on all social media platforms
  • Update and maintain QCFC’s website
  • Other duties as required


  • Post-graduate degree or certificate in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in communications or public relations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of and interest in social media marketing
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Lived experience will be considered in lieu of formal work and study experience
  • Experience working or living in Inuit Nunangat is considered an asset
  • Fluency in Inuktitut is considered a strong asset


  • Part-time (25 hours/week)
  • $30/hour
