Country Food Access Coordinator

Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre (QCFC) is seeking a Country Food Access Coordinator for its facility in the heart of Iqaluit. This is a full-time, one-year contract with the possibility of extension if funding permits.
QCFC is a registered charity that strives to strengthen health, belonging and food sovereignty in Iqaluit. QCFC works in partnership with Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC). The Country Food Access Coordinator ensures that food access programs are organized, implemented and evaluated. As such, in coordination with other staff and volunteers, this role involves:
  • developing and implementing programming related to country foods and harvesting;
  • administering Community Meal and Healthy Food Box programs in coordination with staff and volunteers;
  • engaging in community outreach to identify potential participants, volunteers, and partner organizations;
  • organizing and recruiting volunteers for various programs;
  • creating community country food resources;
  • evaluating programs and preparing reports; and
  • serving as a representative for QCFC within the community.
This role is flexible and may be developed with a candidate’s specific skill set in mind. Travel may be required. Some overtime may be requested. The position requires the ability to use discretion and sensitivity and work in a confidential manner. 
A criminal record check and positive references may be requested. Fluency in Inuktut is a strong asset. Experience harvesting, preparing, storing, or distributing country foods is a strong asset. In conformance with Article 23 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, preference will be given to Inuit applicants. Housing is not available. Annual salary is $85,000.
