Seeking a Community Outreach Assistant

QCFC is seeking a Community Outreach Assistant. This position is an opportunity for youth in Iqaluit and is a full-time, contract position ending September 2, 2022.

The Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for serving as a liaison between QCFC’s regular program users and support services in the community. As such, with the support of the Peer Advocacy Coordinator, the Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for:

  • supporting members of the public access support services available in the community;
  • researching community resources and creating guides and documents for staff and community members;
  • assisting with the development and implementation of on-the-land programs for youth; and
  • organizing other community programming, events, and workshops.

Other duties may be assigned by the Peer Advocacy Coordinator and Executive Director. Work is indoors (office/common space) with some time spent out on the land facilitating programs and consists primarily of clerical work and communication with the public. Training will be provided. The rate of pay is $25/hr. 

The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following:

  • good organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • the ability to demonstrate compassion, openness, flexibility and creativity when working with the general public and within an organization; and
  • experience or interest in working with the community.
